Improve product quality
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Bao - Chairman of the Board of Agriculture Cooperative BDX Ben Tre said that the biggest aspect of the cooperative after 3 years of establishment is the development of a large number of members. From the beginning there were only more than 70 members, to the annual general meeting in April 2019, it had increased to 127 members and now has grown to over 180 members, the ability to reach 200 members by the end of this year.
Members of cooperatives themselves recognize that they also need to enter cooperatives, this is reflected in the increasing number of cooperative members. Members have learned and submitted enough charter capital to participate, not hesitate. This also shows that people have confidence in the new type of cooperative, which operates in accordance with the Law on Cooperatives in 2012.
“Cooperative members all hope that the cooperative will help provide input fertilizer, provide in-depth technical guidance, especially clean and safe production, according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. They also want cooperatives to find outputs, ensure stability and sustainability of cooperatives ”, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Bao said that those members' desires are also the operational goals of the cooperative.
Over the course of operation, the Socodevi Project has also committed to support VND 17 billion for cooperatives to build offices, warehouses, vehicles, ensure cooperatives to operate, providing input and output services, including working capital to ensure the buying and selling of cooperatives. The project is also committed to allocating land to cooperatives to build facilities, with an area of 4,000m2.
Currently, the cooperative is looking for customers to solve a stable and stable output for the cooperative, with the purchase price equal to the market price. Accordingly, customers of cooperatives must have the same goal of developing products according to VietGAP standards, with traceability; including opportunities for long-term export of pomelos. Cooperative itself is very drastically improving the quality of the province's BDX: such as skin thickness, sweetness, color, food hygiene and safety ...
Link many cooperatives
Currently, the BDX Ben Tre Agricultural Cooperative has a large member being the Agricultural Cooperatives in Chau Binh and Giong Trom communes; Tan Thanh Binh and Mo Cay Bac; Tan Thieng, Cho Lach and My Thanh An, TP. Ben tre...
Through the support of the Socodevi Project, the BDX Ben Tre agricultural cooperative has supported 2 cooperatives Chau Binh and Tan Thieng to buy common fertilizers to redistribute members of these 3 cooperatives at prices lower than local prices. . "The prospects for this year and the coming, cooperatives will sign a fertilizer contract to reduce prices, enjoy discounts, reduce costs, about small profits to support operating costs of cooperatives", Mr. Nguyen Quoc Bao expected.
One of the limitations that cooperatives are interested in and associate to overcome is the cultivation technique, the members use inputs in many different categories, resulting in uneven quality of pomelos. Members of cooperatives use many different types of fertilizer, while cooperatives cannot meet all brands and categories, but only brands and categories used by many people.
In the coming time, the cooperative will organize a soil assessment, suitable fertilizer formula, select some types to ensure the quality of grapefruit and at the same time be able to buy inputs at the root of fertilizer companies. Thereby, improving the quality of pomelos of the province, promoting the value of geographical indications BDX Ben Tre, on the other hand, makes a difference compared to other localities.

Mr. Ngo Van Trang - Director of the cooperative said that the operation of the cooperative aims to meet the true aspirations of farmers as low input and stable output. In terms of input, fertilizer supply needs according to the registered members, lower prices purchased at the agent. Cooperatives grasp the needs of members, then orient the formula of fertilizer process, unifying members to buy the same fertilizer company. The policy of input is for the sake of not-for-profit and manages the input along the value chain. Cooperatives also assure farmers that the fertilizer is genuine, not fake.
